原田泰治美術館のこと

［本稿は、03/12/05付けのメルマガにて公表した一文である。このほど、無精庵万葉記にて、「谷川晃一著『絵はだれでも描ける』」という書評エッセイを掲載したが、その中で、この一文に言及している。よって、ここに再掲する。悲しいかな、この美術館を未だ訪れていない。(05/01/22 記）］


　昨日だったか、ラジオを聞いていたら（ＮＨＫ）、原田泰治美術館という名前が耳に。どうやら、原田泰治氏本人へのインタヴューのようだ。仕事中なので、例によって断片的にしか聞けない。
　例によってネットで得られた情報で聞き取れなかった部分を補いながら、若干、この話題の周辺を、メモしておきたい。
　まず、この美術館は他とは違って、＜煩い＞美術館なのだ、というのが印象に残った。
　聞きかじりなので、正確な理解とは言い難いかもしれないが、その館内の＜煩さ＞というのは、察するところ、原田泰治氏の作品の世界と無縁ではないようなのである。
　原田泰治氏は、グラフィックデザイナーであり、かつ、画家である。
　原田泰治氏の作品の世界は、一般的には、素朴画（ナイーブ・アート）と呼ばれているようである。彼の名前だけなら小生も聞いたことがあるし、彼の名前をすぐに思い浮かべられなくても、多くの人は、彼の作品を目にしているかもしれない。見れば、ああ、あの絵の作者なのか、と思われることもあるかもしれない。
　というのも、「１９８２年４月から２年半にわたって朝日新聞日曜版のフロントページを飾り好評を博した」ことなどがあるからである：

　この美術館の名誉館長が、歌手のさだまさしだということが昨日のラジオで言及されていたかどうかは分からない：

　どうやら、さだまさし氏が原田泰治氏の作品に惚れ込み、二人には長い交流があるらしい。
　さて、ネットにて、原田泰治氏の作品を見ていただこう。
　残念ながら僅か数点しか見ることが出来ないが、原田泰治の世界が素朴画（ナイーブ・アート）と呼ばれ親しまれる由縁くらいは感じ取られるかもしれない。
　話が戻るが、美術館の館内が煩いというのは、彼の絵を見て、訪れる多くの人が、懐かしい気持ちになり、ああ、昔はこうだった、あそこはこうだったという会話が自然に生れるからのようである。
　原田泰治氏は、「1歳の時小児麻痺にかかり両足が不自由になる」というハンディを背負いながらも、今、「「日本のふるさと」をテーマに全国47都道府県をくまなく取材し、そこにつつましく生活する人々の暮らしを限りない愛情を込めて描き」続けていると、昨日のラジオで話されていた。
　時代の流れで多くの日本のふるさとの風景が失われた。
　けれど、原田泰治氏は、そうはいっても、実際に歩いてみると、たくさん、いいものが残っている。自分は、そうした数々のものを描いていきたいのだと語ってもいた。描きたいものは、たくさんある、これから何十年どころか、何百年生きても描ききれないほどだとも。
　そうして描かれた日本の風景が館内に展示されている。美術館を訪れる方は多くが年輩だとか。だから、尚更、昔話に花が咲く、ということも＜煩さ＞に結びついているのだ。
　それだけではなく、「障害をお持ちの方、お年寄りの方への配慮」「目のご不自由な方への配慮」の尽くされた美術館でもあり、館内でお喋りについ夢中になり、話し声が大きくなろうが、そんなことなどどうでもいいことなのである。

　原田泰治美術館は、原田泰治氏の生地である諏訪市（諏訪湖畔）にある。この美術館は、二つの願いを込めて開館したという。
　一つは、「1つは詩情豊かな[原田泰治の世界]を核に、ナイーブアート（素朴画）の世界への発信拠点として成長、発展する美術館としたいという願い」であり、もう一つは、「「人に優しい美術館」として多くの方々から愛される美術館という願い」だとか。
　98年7月に開館したという。
　小生は、帰省の際には、スクーターで中央自動車道、ついで上信越自動車道と走るのだが、ちょうど、諏訪湖の辺りで道がクロスしている。
　いつも、素通りだった。知らないとはいえ、惜しいことをしていたものである。今度、何とか時間を作って、ほんのしばしでも、この湖畔の美術館に訪れたいと思った。
